Why Eco-Conscious?

Why eco-conscious? And not eco-friendly?

We have a good reason for this choice of vocabulary!

In our opinion, the term ‘eco-friendly’ suggests something that is actually good for the environment, rather than less damaging than other things. Claiming to be friendly to the environment also suggests finality, a decision you have arrived at, rather than one you are constantly evaluating. The term ‘eco-conscious,’ on the other hand, suggests an on-going awareness of our impact on the environment, a constant journey of learning and progressing.

To us, becoming ‘conscious’ means questioning the status quo, researching, educating, and keeping up to date with the latest environmental information and developments. We can then apply this knowledge to our business model, regularly evaluating what we are doing, to ensure that our practice is causing the least possible damage to the environment, whilst still adhering to the law and health & safety regulations.

“Consciousness is only possible through change; change is only possible through movement.”

- Aldous Huxley, The Art of Seeing
